Candy Corn Counts as a Vegetable, right? Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph
I am feeling a little bummed that this is my 4th and final post as the September Guest Designer for Newton's Nook Designs. But I certainly enjoyed the opportunity to showcase Newton’s Nook adorable images for you every Monday this month. I want to especially thank Jennifer and Samantha for inviting me to be on the blog. It was an honor!
The hint I posted last week for today’s card was “Should candy corn be included in the ‘Food Pyramid’?” Did you guess that I would be featuring the Candy Corn Stamp Set and Candy Corn Stencil Set? You guessed right!
Card Details:
- I created an A2 card base and layered green cardstock over it.
- I used the new 3-piece Candy Corn layered stencil set to create a “three-toned” candy corn background (using dark green, medium green, and white pigment inks on kraft cardstock.) This was so easy to accomplish as all three stencils feature etching of the opposite layers for easy alignment.
- The candy corn images were stamped and colored with Copic markers and die cut out.
- I created a planter stand out of green cardstock and cut the top edge with a grass die.
- The sentiment “Candy Corn counts as a Vegetable, right?” was white heat embossed on top and then adhered over the “planted corn”.
Take care!
- Priscilla

Fall Card by Ellen Haxelmans
Fall Leaves & Pumpkins Please!
Today Ellen has created an adorable card that is sure to put you in the mood for fall weather!
For her card she features our Signs of Fall Stamp Set. This fun set has an image with a blank sign and several sentiments that fit inside it so you can easily customize your fall greetings! For her card today, Ellen stamped and colored the image in fun bright fall colors with pops of blue and teal. Then she added the "Fall Leaves & Pumpkins Please!" sentiment, embossing it in white onto the sign. She cut the images out using the coordinating Signs of Fall Die Set.
For her card base she used our Hardwood Stencil to create a woodgrain background. Then she layered it over a fun lime green scallop edged panel that was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. What a fun pop of color!

Harvest Blessings Card by September Guest Designer Priscilla Joseph
Unlike last week’s card, which featured only black, gray, and white, today’s mini slimline card is bursting with the vibrant and contrasting fall colors of rust and navy. I love this bold combination! My card features the Autumn Newton Stamp Set (coordinating dies are available). This adorable 4 x 6 stamp set showcases Newton participating in lots of fun fall activities. Plus, I used the Falling Leaves Stencil to create a three-dimensional background on the card. And just for fun, I created a mini slimline envelope to match!
- I created a mini slimline card base (6” x 7”, scored at 3.5”) out of dark rust card stock.
- To create the background scene, I used white embossing paste tinted with the “Rusty Hinge” Distress Oxide re-inker and then spread it through the Falling Leaves stencil over navy card stock.
- The image was colored with Copic markers and die cut out.
- For added dimension, I paper pieced a navy bow over the stamped bow.
- I stamped the sentiment “harvest blessing” onto light rust card stock and adhered it and a circle frame onto the embossed leaf background.
- Finally, the colored image was foam mounted on top of the circle and the card was finished by framing it in the same light rust colored card stock before adhering it to the slimline card base.
- For a finishing touch, I created a matching mini slimline envelope and used the Falling Leaves stencil and “Rusty Hinge” Distress Oxide ink to add leaves to the front.
I hope you enjoyed today’s vibrant autumn card. Stay tuned for my 4th and final card next week. Here’s a hint – should candy corn be included in “Food Pyramid”?
