I want to tell you all how much I have enjoyed and appreciated this wonderful opportunity to share my work with you this month as a guest designer. The Newton’s Nook company has been great and their products are the best. I have several friends and family enjoying the fruits of my labor creating with their products.
My final card for the month as a guest designer is from the Garden Mice Stamp Set. This has to be one of my favorites because my mom loves all things mice. So this card will be for her.
The focal image from the set I chose is this cute mouse holding a huge mushroom. I colored it using Copic Markers.
I decided to make the background in a rustic fashion. I used wood grain card stock for the card base and the frame. The frame can be die cut using the Newton’s Nook Framework Die Set. I used a tree die cut that I had on hand but the trees could also be die cut using the Forest Scene Builder Die Set from Newton’s Nook.
Once I started the assembly I realized the wood grain paper was too dark so I cut and used a piece of craft paper to put behind the trees to lighten the scene. The white layer seemed to bright to me so I used some watered down acrylic black paint to splatter onto the layer. Then I attached the mouse and some bits of grass and sequins to finish the scene. The frame was attached using foam tape to give depth to the card. My final step was to white emboss the sentiment onto a piece of dark red card stock.
