Something to Perk Up Your Day Card by Samantha VanArnhem

Perk Up Your Day Kitty and Coffee Card by Samantha VanArnhem | Caffeinated Cats Stamp Set and Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Perk up your Day with Cute Kitties!

Are you feeling tired today? We hope that this adorable card by Samantha will perk you up! Or at least get your creativity energized! This adorable card features the image of kitties playing in the big stack of mugs from the Caffeinated Cats Stamp Set. She colored the mugs with a minimal color palette, using only shades of blue. Then she added the neutral browns for the kitties and coffee! Doesn't this look beautiful!? Sometimes using less colors can achieve a stunning result!

This image is sized just right to fill your whole card front and it also fits perfectly inside the scalloped frame from the Frames & Flags Die Set, which she cut out in dark blue to match her mugs. Then she added the sentiment, also from the Caffeinated Cats Stamp Set, stamped onto the banner that was also cut out using the  Frames & Flags Die Set

Butterfly Slimline Birthday Card!

Today we are fluttering by with a fun birthday card by Farhana! This beautiful card features the pretty butterflies from our Monarchs Stamp Set. She stamped and embossed them with gold embossing powder and then added ink blends over the top. Aren't they so pretty!? She cut her images out by hand but if you don't like to fussy cut, you could use the coordinating Monarchs Die Set

For the slimline card base, she used the large scalloped edge die from our Slimline Frames & Portholes Die Set. Then she used our Slimline Masking Circles & Squares Stencil Set  to mask over her die cut and stenciled flowers over the masked areas using our Petite Flowers Stencil using a blend of yellow, orange and red to create that lovely ombré flower background!  In the center image she added the sentiment, also from the Monarchs Stamp Set

Over the top of this background she added shaker frame by die cut the trio of windows using our Slimline Frames & Windows Die Set. She popped up the frame, layering it with dimensionals and acetate and filled the inside of each window with sparkly embellishments that match the colors.

Thinking of You Card by March Guest Designer Jane Trivedi

Hi friends!  It’s Jane here, sharing my last card as guest designer for Newton’s Nook Designs. Today, I'm featuring the adorable critters from the Woodland Spring Stamp Set.  Modeling paste and Serene Stripes Stencil also used to create a textured background to frame my scene.

Thinking of You Spring Card by March Guest Designer Jane Trivedi | Woodland Spring Stamp Set and Serene Stripes Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook
To create this card, I first stamped the floral image on a piece of Bristol cardstock. Next, I stamped the image on masking paper and cut the image using my scissors. The same process was repeated for all the images, stamping and then masking each image. Next, using a small blender brush, I blended the following Catherine Pooler Inks (left to right): chiffon, orange peel, coral cabana, be mine, pixie dust, and serenade.

After the blending was done, I colored the images using a fine water brush and Zig clean color brush markers.  Next, I used a black waterproof pen to go over the images adding thicker lines in some areas to create the illusion of shadow. Then, I added white gel pen highlights to the images and surrounding ink blended areas for a whimsical touch!
Thinking of You Spring Card by March Guest Designer Jane Trivedi | Woodland Spring Stamp Set and Serene Stripes Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

To create the textured background, I used the Serene Stripes Stencil  and white modeling paste on a piece of heavy weight watercolor paper. After the panel was dry, I cut the embossed panel to 5 inches by 3.75 inches. The ink blended panel was also cut and mounted on foam tape and adhered to the textured background.  Sentiment from the Woodland Spring Stamp Set was white heat embossed on black cardstock and adhered to the front of the card using foam tape.

The entire card front was mounted to a piece of light grey cardstock and then to an A2 white card base and that completes the card!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Big thanks to Newton’s Nook Designs for having me as a guest this month!

Happy crafting everyone!

Isn't the coloring on those kitties amazing? She also colored a pair of 3D glasses and some popcorn kernels and cut the images out using the coordinating Newton's Movie Night Die Set. For the background she used our Popcorn Stencil with light colored ink to create a popcorn pattern on scalloped square that was cut out using our Frames Squared Die Set. She also cut out a red square with rounded corners using the same die set to frame it.

Inside the card, is the fun "movie night" sentiment, added onto a tag shape (cut out using our Framework Die Set). She also added more popcorn, cut out using the bonus shape on the coordinating Newton's Movie Night Die Set.

To make it even more fun, she created a decoration for a popcorn box! For this she cut out shapes using our  Circle Frame Die Set and Heart Frame Die Set. Then she used the same Popcorn Stencil for the background and added the sentiment, 3D glasses, popcorn and stars using our Newton's Movie Night Stamp Set

Instructions from Ellen:

Below we have some details from Ellen on how she colored and created the images for this set:

  1. (left photo) The images from the Newton's Movie Night Stamp Set are colored with Zig Clear Color Brush Markers, listed below:
    1. Orange Cat: No.052 Bright Yellow, No.070 Orange, No. 72 Beige and No.222 Pink Flamingo
    2. Brown cat: No.064 Oatmeal No.068 Deep Brown and No 222 Pink Flamingo
    3. Seats: No.022 Carmine Red and No.095 Dark Grey
    4. Glasses: No.036 Light Blue, No.022 Carmine Red and No.095 Dark Grey
    5. Food: No260 Deep Red, No.049 Green Shadow, No067 Mustard, No050 Yellow, No.036 Light Blue and No.092 Blue Gray

  2. (center photo) Cut out a square and heart shape. Use the Popcorn Stencil with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Afterwards you ink the sides with Vintage Photo Distress ink; this gives it a light burned look (yummy). As last step I sprinkled some drops on top. The same inks where used on the popcorn shapes.

  3. (right photo) As last step I die cut out some colored paper. The colors I used were picked to match with the image and popcorn box: red, white and yellow.

Decorate a Custom Mug!

Today Amanda shares how she combined two stamp sets to create a gorgeous butterfly mug! She started out with the image of the kitty in a mug from our Newton's Mug Stamp Set. This image has a big blank mug, designed to stamp sentiments on the front, but it also works great to stamp a custom image on it too! Amanda masked off the edges of the mug and then used the pretty butterfly from our Monarchs Stamp Set to decorate the front! So gorgeous! She colored the mug and kitty and cut the image out using the coordinating Newton's Mug Die Set

For her card, she used dies from our Framework Die Set and Frames & Flags Die Set to create a frame. Behind the frame she used our Mugs Stencil with pale yellow ink to create a background that coordinates perfectly with the mug theme!

For the sentiment she stamped "kit tea cat" from the Newton's Mug Stamp Set onto a circle that was cut out using our Frames Squared Die Set. Then she cut out a banner using our Banner Trio Die Set and stamped "you are loved" onto it using our Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set

Here is a close-up of that beautiful mug:

Enjoy the Little Moments in Life Card by March Guest Designer Jane Trivedi

Hi crafty friends!  Jane here today sharing another card using these adorable mice from the Garden Mice Stamp Set by Newton’s Nook Designs. To create this card, I used a variety of art mediums on Bristol smooth cardstock.

Mouse Card by March Guest Designer Jane Trivedi | Garden Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

To start, I stamped the image of the mouse under the mushroom using Versafine clair ink in the color acorn. Then, I stamped the image on masking paper and cut it out using scissors. I stamped and masked all the images in a similar manner. Next, I used distress oxide inks in picked raspberry, spun sugar, milled lavender and broken china to blend the background. The background was then splattered with water using a thin paint brush.

Mouse Card by March Guest Designer Jane Trivedi | Garden Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

After dabbing off the excess water using a dry paper towel, I removed the masks.  The images were then colored using zig clean color brush pens and accented using Inktense pencils and a white gel pen.  The background grass was filled in by using flicks of my zig pens, Inktense pencils and a white gel pen.  Distress oxide ink in twisted citron was also used to fill in the white space at the bottom of the card, but I did leave a small area of white space for the sentiment.

The sentiment was stamped using the Garden Mice Sstamp Set in versamark black ink.  After the panel was dry, I cut the card down to 3.75 inches by 5 inches and mounted it on a white A2 card base.  And that completes the card!

I hope this card inspires you to pull out different art mediums from your stash and mix them together for a unique and fun look to your projects!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
