Happy Fall Card by Amy Tsuruta

Happy Fall Card by Amy Tsuruta | Fall Roundabout Stamp Set, Circle Frames Die Set, Banner Trio Die Set and Houndstooth Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Happy Fall!

Today Amy is back with another gorgeous fall creation! Her card today features the circle of leaves from our Fall Roundabout Stamp Set. Many times when we think of fall we head for the dark reds, oranges and yellows but today, Amy colored her image in a pastel color theme! Isn't it gorgeous? These colors are still perfect for fall and have a soft and cozy feeling too!

For the circle frame around the image she used our Circle Frames Die Set, adhering it with foam dimensionals to add more interest to the overall card design.

The sentiment "Happy Fall" is also from the Fall Roundabout Stamp Set and was stamped onto a banner from our Banner Trio Die Set. This tucks perfectly inside the circle!

For the card base, she created a base that is just shy of the regular A2 size. Making it a little smaller helps accommodate the overlapping circle frame. She also added a fun patterned panel on the bottom half of her card using our Houndstooth Stencil.

What a gorgeous creation! Are you inspired to expand your seasonal color palettes? If you create a card like this, make sure to share it with us on Instagram using #newtonsnook or in our Create & Share facebook group!

National Coffee Day Blog Hop! | Coffee Cards by Jennifer Jackson | Sips & Stories Stamp Set, Frames & Flags Die Set and Mugs Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
If you are anything like me, a good day would include coffee, a good book, and cats (of course)! That's why this image from our new Sips & Stories Stamp Set is one of my favorites! For my card today I colored the image of the girl in her cozy reading space using copic markers. I used a fun bright color palette of teal, purple and red with a neutral gray chair. I also colored an extra mug and single book image from the same set. I cut these images out using the coordinating Sips & Stories Die Set

For the fun coffee cup background I used our Mugs Stencil with white texture paste over a piece of gray cardstock! I love how bold and striking this looks! I cut the background panel out using our Frames & Flags Die Set to give it the scalloped edge. Then I assembled the card together, matching the cardstock colors with my colored image and added a round rectangle of vellum, also cut out with our Frames & Flags Die Set to soften the background.  For a finishing touch I added a bit of purple ribbon to match the girls shirt.

Naughty or Mice Card by September Guest Designer Kavya

Naughty or Mice Card by September Guest Designer Kavya | Naughty or Mice Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
Hi folks!

I am back at Newton's Nook for my last guest design post for September. I cannot believe how quickly this month flew by! For my last card, I decided to share a technique or rather layout that I enjoy - using large words with stamped images! Newton's Nook makes so many standalone images that are perfect for this technique and I constantly find myself swapping the 'Os' in 'Love', 'OMG" etc with a cute Newton. Here is one that I made a while back:

For a Christmas card, I decided to use some cute christ-mouses from the Naughty or Mice Stamp set along with some large alphabets that read "Fa La La La...". I first started out with a plan to use three mice and the words 'Fa La La' but I quickly realized how big the mice were! So I cut it down to a single 'La' and decided to channel the inner math nerd in me and and add eighth power to 'La'! I think that fixed it? It definitely makes a super cute card for another math nerd! All of the alphabets were cut using my silhouette cameo in 'Rockwell' font. Any large alphabet die works too. The images were colored using alcohol markers and colored pencils. I then finished the card with a sentiment from the same set.

I hope you try this super easy and cute technique for some of your cards. You can use words like Joy, Jolly, Noel, Snow etc. and make the sentiment the focal point of your card along with an adorable stamped image from Newton's Nook!

Thank you so much for having me as your Guest Designer this month! I hope I inspired you in some way.. I definitely had so much fun!

Thanks and Happy Crafting,
-Kavya

Missing You Card by Ellen Haxelmans

Missing You Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Easter Lily Stamp Set, Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set, Banner Trio Die Set and Tree Rings Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Missing You...

Today Ellen has created a gorgeous fall card using a spring floral stamp! The wonderful thing about our Easter Lily Stamp Set, is that you can use it way beyond spring, just by changing the colors of the blooms. For this card Ellen colored the flowers in autumn shades of yellow and orange. She used the coordinating Easter Lily Die Set to cut the image out to layer onto her card.

Missing You Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Easter Lily Stamp Set, Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set, Banner Trio Die Set and Tree Rings Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

For the card base she created a fun background pattern by using our Tree Rings Stencil and Banner Trio Die Set (see details below). She layered this over a scallop edged panel that was cut out with our Frames & Flags Die Set. The finishing touch is the sentiment "missing you" from our Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set, added onto a lime green banner, also cut out using our Banner Trio Die Set

Tips on creating this card

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how this card was created:

Missing You Card by Ellen Haxelmans | Easter Lily Stamp Set, Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set, Banner Trio Die Set and Tree Rings Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. (left photo) First I die cut out 5 banners using the Banner Trio Die Set and placed them evenly on purple tape. Next I blended brown distress ink on top. After that I placed the Tree Rings Stencil over the banners and blended the same colors through the stencil.
  2. (center photo) It's easy to stretch flower stamps by using season themed colors. I colored the lily from the Easter Lily Stamp Set with Zig markers. Orange lilies are perfect for a fall card!
  3. (right photo) As last step the text from the Heartfelt Essentials Stamp Set was white heat embossed on a banner from Banner Trio Die Set

Life's a Picnic With You Card by Samantha Mann

Life's a Picnic With You Card by Samantha Mann | Woodland Picnic Stamp Set, Forest Scene Builder and Border Dies by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Life's a Picnic!

Life may not be a picnic lately but I'm sure you know someone who makes your life easier! Today Samantha shares a card that would be perfect for letting someone know that they make your life better! She started out by coloring some of the cute critters from our Woodland Picnic Stamp Set. She colored them with beautiful neutral tones adding little pops of color and pink cheeks. She also added some interest by adding accents with a white gel pen. The critters were cut out using the coordinating Woodland Picnic Die Set.

Then she set the scene for these adorable critters using several die sets. She created a blue sky with distress inks and then layered grass over the top using our Land Borders Die Set. Birch trees were added to the background, cut out with our Forest Scene Builders Die Set. Then she used our Sky Borders Die Set to create a canopy of leaves above the trees! Such a fun effect! She also added a dimension to all the die cut pieces with distress inks! So pretty!

Floral Lace Card by September Guest Designer Kavya

Floral Lace Card by September Guest Designer Handmade by Kavya | Floral Lace Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Hi All,

I am excited to be back with another technique using some amazing Newton's Nook products! Let's change things up a bit and play with stencils this time, shall we? Stencils are super fun and can be used to create dramatic cards in a few simple steps. Here is how I created mine:

  • I decided to use some Kraft cardstock instead of my usual white for this card. I attached the card to the Floral Lace Stencil using washi tape.
  • I first ink blended using white hybrid ink. I then moved the stencil a bit and then ink blended using 4 colors to create a rainbow. I used pink, yellow, lime green, and teal hybrid inks. Adding a white layer first creates a dramatic shadow and really makes the color pop when you are using a colored cardstock!
  • To add some extra glimmer, keeping the stencil in place from the last step, I used Tim Holtz's Nebula stickles glitter gel. I didn't like the stars so I manually removed them later on using a picking tool.
  • I then used some outline letter dies for my sentiment. As I really liked the ink blended panel and didn't want to cover much of it, I used vellum for the center of the alphabets so that you can still see some of the rainbow gorgeousness.
  • I then attached the panel to a larger panel using some foam.
  • And that's about it!

Feline Batty Card by Amy Tsuruta | Batty Newton Stamp Set, Spooky Roundabout Stamp Set and Spiderweb Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

Feline Batty!

Today we are getting in the mood for Halloween with this card by Amy! She combined several of our newest Halloween products to create this adorable card!

The sweet kitty in the bat costume from our Batty Newton Stamp Set takes center stage. She colored the image in neutral tones with fun purple bat wings! This image was cut out using the coordinating Batty Newton Die Set to layer onto her card. Behind the batty kitty, she used the big circle of Halloween creatures from our Spooky Roundabout Stamp Set. She colored this image using a palette of soft Halloween colors and a minty green background! So lovely! The image and the scalloped circle frame were cut out using the  Circle Frames Die Set

For a final, spooky finishing touch, she added a soft spiderweb to the background using our Spiderweb Stencil and the sentiment "feline batty" onto the ticket shape from our Framework Die Set. All these elements combine perfectly for a fun and spooky Halloween creation!

For the sentiment, she chose the "Grateful for you" sentiment, also from the Fall Roundabout Stamp Set, and embossed it using metallic embossing powder. She layered it over the center of the image on a white stripe and added a yellow stripe behind it. For a bit of texture, she added white texture paste to the background of the card using our Hardwood Stencil

New Job Card by Ellen Haxelmans

New Job Card and Gift by Ellen Haxelmans | Newtons Graduation Stamp Set, Essential Alphabet Die, Houndstooth Stencil & more by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

New Job Card!

Today Ellen has created a beautiful card for someone who just started a new job, complete with a little treat too!

She started by coloring the kitty with the globe from our Newton's Graduation Stamp Set. Along with this image she added the stack s of books from the Classy Teachers Stamp Set and the single book and mug from the Sips & Stories Stamp Set. These images were all cut out using their coordinating die sets and added over a circle that was created using our Circle Frames Die Set

For the custom sentiment, she used the word "new" from our Loveable Laundry Stamp Set and paired with with letters cut out using our Essential Alphabet Die Set to spell "job". These words were added onto a blue banner that was cut out using our Banner Trio Die Set

New Job Card and Gift by Ellen Haxelmans | Newtons Graduation Stamp Set, Essential Alphabet Die, Houndstooth Stencil & more by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
For a bit of sparkle she created a lovely background using our Houndstooth Stencil with sparkly texture gel.

Tips on creating this card

Below we have some tips from Ellen on how this card was created:

New Job Card and Gift by Ellen Haxelmans | Newtons Graduation Stamp Set, Essential Alphabet Die, Houndstooth Stencil & more by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
  1. (left photo) I know someone who just got a job in a university, so searched for all things that could fit the theme of the card (Books, coffee…). Then I colored it with my Copic markers.
  2. (center photo) When you want a specific sentiment it’s so easy to use the alphabet dies. Suddenly I remembered the word ‘new’ was in the Loveable Laundry baby set and that made a perfect match with the word ‘job’, which was cut out using the Essential Alphabet Die Set.
  3. (right photo) The card base was created with the Houndstooth Stencil and Red Velvet Glitz Glitter Gel. For the circle I blended blue distress ink and splattered water on top.

Bonus treat!

To go with this card, Ellen also embellished a cute little apple shaped treat container! She used the same sheet that was patterned with our Houndstooth Stencil and red glitter paste and cut out a tiny tag using our Tags Times Two Die Set. She added "mew did it" from the Newton's Graduation Stamp Set and a little apple from the Classy Teachers Stamp Set! How adorable!!
