I started by die cutting the two stitched square pieces with dies from the Frames Squared die set. On the smaller squares I made a sky with the Clouds Stencil. I then die cut the smaller pieces from the Fence Die Set and the Sky Scene Builder Die set I would need for my scenes and colored them with Distress Oxide Inks.
Sun – Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade
Clouds – Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean
Grass – Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn
Fence – Weathered Wood, which I lightly dabbed on in a few places
Next, I made the butterfly backgrounds with the new Butterflies Stencil Set, and they came out gorgeous! The problem was, I knew I wanted to apply glitter paste over the butterflies, and after stenciling on Layer 2, I realized that the details would be obscured by the glitter paste. I have included the picture below because I wanted to show how absolutely beautiful this stencil set is.
For the top card - Layer 1:
Squeezed Lemonade
Spun Sugar
Shaded Lilac
Layer 2:
Mustard Seed
Worn Lipstick
Wilted Violet
For the bottom card -Layer 1:
Twisted Citron
Wilted Violet
Tumbled Glass
Layer 2:
Cracked Pistachio
Seedless Preserves
Salty Ocean
I decided to use just Layer 1 of the Butterflies Stencil Set and apply the glitter paste over it. This is a picture before the glitter paste was applied.
Here is a picture after applying the glitter paste. The colors become muted and take on a more pastel shade, which is what I was going for!
For this card I used crouching Newton, adding a couple flowers and fluttering butterflies around him, and colored them with Copic markers.
Belly – C00, C0
Ears – R20, R32
Nose – R20
For the flowers and butterflies:
Y00, Y02, Y08
B000, B01, B02, B04
RV10, RV23, RV14
V12, V04, V06
YG11, YG03, YG17
E11, E13, E15
For this card I used Newton chasing butterflies, adding a couple more flowers and another pretty butterfly, and colored them with Copic markers.
The Copic colors I used for Newton are: YR0000, YR000, YR20, and YR31 for his stripes
Belly – W0, W1
Ears – R20, R32
Nose – R20
For the flowers and butterflies:BV31, BV02, BV04
R20, R22, R14
Y00, Y02, Y08
BG11, BG23, BG13
YG11, YG03, YG17
E11, E13, E15
I finished off both cards using a glitter pen on the butterflies, and applying glossy accents to the butterfly bodies, butterfly details, flower centers, and Newton’s cute nose! I hope you all enjoyed my cards this week, and are able to get your *paws* on some of these awesome new products! Have a great week everyone!!
