Unicorn Sparkle Card by Nakaba Rager

Unicorn Sparkle Card by Nakaba Rager | Believe in Unicorns Stamp Set, Hills & Grass Stencil and Clouds Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Sweet Sparkly Unicorn!

Today we are sharing this beautiful unicorn card by Naki! She used that adorable unicorn image from our Believe in Unicorns Stamp Set. She colored the unicorn in a rainbow of colors, adding little highlights along the mane. She cut the image out using the coordinating Believe in Unicorns Die Set to add to her card. For the card background she used our new Clouds Stencil to create layers of  clouds and made each layer a different color for a fun rainbow sky effect! She also used our new Hills & Grass Stencil to create a hill along the bottom. She finished the card off by embossing some sparkles under the unicorn and adding the sentiment above it. Both the sentiment and sparkles are also from the Believe in Unicorns Stamp Set. This lovely card would be perfect for sending to a friend to let them know you care!

Thank you for the fun beautiful summer card today, Naki! If you like this project you can see more of Naki's work over on her blog, Notes from Naki. Stop by and say hello!

Tropical Card by Holly Endress

Tropical Card by Holly Endress | Tropical Fringe Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

Aloha Friend

Is it hot where you live? We are definitely having some warmer weather this week at NND headquarters! This gorgeous card by Holly is perfect for a hot summer day! She used the beautiful tropical square frame from our Tropical Fringe Stamp Set, coloring it in gorgeous vibrant colors! She added the "aloha friend" sentiment, also from the same set, inside the frame. This set has several different sentiments and they all fit inside the frame, giving you a bunch of different options for your cards. After coloring the image, Holly cut it out  just along the edge of the square and mounted it over some fun tropical patterned papers to create a cheerful summer greeting!

Thank you, Holly, for the cute card today! You can find more of Holly's creations and say hello to her over at her blog, Hollybeary Creations!

Thank You Card Duo by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi

Thank you. Twice.
Preparing for my guest designing I've made a bunch of sketches for the cards I planned to
create for Newton's Nook in July. Almost a dozen. As I realized that the end of the month is
near and there's only one blogpost to go, I tried to narrow and pick my favorite sketch to
make, but somehow I couldn't decide between two, so here they are :)

Thank You Card Duo by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Peony Blooms Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmadeFor my first card I stamped the floral elements of the set ‘Peony Blooms’ onto masking paper
and cut them out. After stamping the first flower I covered it with masking paper then went
for the next one. I stamped the images repeatedly making sure that the surrounding flowers
are covered with masking paper.

Thank You Card Duo by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Peony Blooms Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I created a diagonal shape with the peonies leaving the bottom right area white. I coloured everything with Tombow markers and splattered white acrylic paint all over when it dried. To finish my card I stamped my sentiment with black ink and adhered the finished panel onto a deep blue card base.

For my monochromatic card I picked this adorable dog duo from the Puppy Pals stamp set as the center image and stamped it onto a card sized Copic friendly paper. The rest was just coloring with warm greys.

Creating monochromatic cards is really relaxing as there's no need to think about which colors to pick. This card just needed six markers and a white gel pen. I usually use a bunch of tools to create my cards so it's fun to make something interesting with supplies fit my pocket :)

Thank you for inviting me, it's been wonderful to be a guest designer for Newton's Nook and I have had so much fun creating cards with these adorable products.

Thank you for reading my posts, I hope you liked my creations!

Tutorial on creating this project!
Below we have instruction from Ellen on how to create a fun set of play items like this!

Creating your backgrounds:

Assembling the toys:

  • Photo 1 (left): Use your Crocodile Punch to put wholes in the paper. When the toy is completed, the wholes are the “goals” for the balls. I also colored the illustrations with Copic Markers as you can see on the picture.
  • Photo 2 (center): Open the toy you bought. I bought some cheap plastic one that are easy to open. I also cleaned them a little bit.
  • Photo 3 (right): Take out the paper piece and replace them with your little piece of art. I used a strong tape runner to stick it to the bottom of the toy.

You Make Me Smile Card by Samantha Mann

You Make Me Smile Card by Samantha Mann | Dog Days of Summer Stamp Set, Sunscape Stencil and Cloudy Sky Stencil by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

You Make me Smile!

Today we are sharing this adorable summer themed dog card by Samantha! She created this fun and cheerful scene featuring the dog playing with a water hose from our Dog Days of Summer Stamp Set! She colored this adorable image using watercolor markers and fussy cut it out by hand. For her card background she started out by stenciling a big sunburst in the background using our Sunscape Stencil with yellow ink. Then she added a layer of clouds over it using our Cloudy Sky Stencil with white embossing paste! It's so fun to layer stencils like this to create custom backgrounds! She layered the pup over the top and added a banner with the "you make me smile" sentiment, also from the Dog Days of Summer Stamp Set. What a perfect card for sending cheer on a hot summer day!

Happy Birthday Dog Card by Jennifer Jackson

Happy Birthday Dog Card by Jennifer Jackson | Fetching Friendship and Birthday Essentials Stamp Sets and Frames & Flags Die Set by Newton's Nook Designs #handmade #newtonsnook

Happy Birthday Dog Card!

Hello! Jen here today with a fun birthday card for a dog lover! I have lots of friends with dogs so I like to keep a few dog themed birthday cards in my stash! For this card I chose the image of the Lab from our Fetching Friendship Stamp Set. I stamped him onto a stitched rectangle that was cut out using our Frames & Flags Die Set. I also stamped the little gift onto his nose. I colored him to look like a yellow lab using copic markers, adding on a red scarf and blue for the gift. Then I stamped the birthday hat, also from the Fetching Friendship Stamp Set onto another piece of paper. I colored the hat with copics and cut it out using the coordinating Fetching Friendship Die Set to add onto his head. For the sentiments, I used the "Happy Birthday" and "& many more" words from our Birthday Essentials Stamp Set. I mounted the image onto a card base, layering it with a scrap of patterned yellow paper over red cardstock. I also added on a stripe of black and white washi tape and a blue ribbon. I like that the colors and ribbon on this card could work for a masculine birthday too!  What do you think?

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi

Thinking of You

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Garden Mice, Little Lilies and Peony Blooms Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade
I really love stamp sets that remind me of my childhood storybooks and Garden Mice is definitely that type. It combines the cutest critters with floral elements which makes it a perfect scene building set.

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Garden Mice, Little Lilies and Peony Blooms Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

To start my card I Copic colored a bunch of images from this hilarious set and added elements from other two: Peony Blooms and Little Lilies. I usually colour and fussy cut more than I need, I found this very helpful while assembling the cards.

For the background I trimmed a piece of watercolor paper to approx 5x5 inch and sprayed it with Oxide sprays. Watercolor cardstock has an uneven surface and special texture which I thought to be fun for my garden scene.

Thinking of You Card by July Guest Designer Ildi Imrefalvi | Garden Mice, Little Lilies and Peony Blooms Stamp Sets by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

After white heat embossing the sentiment onto the middle of the background I started to build and arch shaped scene from the colored elements. I used foam dots of various thickness to make the dimensions more interesting.

I planned to have splatter of white acrylic paint on all over the background, but I totally forgot about it, so I decided to put small dots with my gel pen here and there as a finishing touch.

Thank you for stopping by
Hugs,
Ildi

For the background I created layers of clouds using our new Clouds Stencil. Then I added a die cut wave across the bottom using our Sea Borders Die Set. I cut this whole panel out using the scalloped edge from our Framework Die Set. For the background I created a fun pattern of orange leaves using our Tropical Leaves Stencil. Last, I added the sentiment from the Newton's Perfect Wave Stamp Set, stamping it onto a circle that I cut out using our Frames Squared Die Set.
