Today we have our first post from our May Guest Designer, Rina Galit! You may have seen Rina's beautiful and whimsical creations as craftmusubi on Instagram. We are super excited to have her join us this month! We wait to share what she creates with our stamps! Keep reading to find out more about Rina today and to check out her first project below!

Hi! My name is Rina and I have been crafting since 2008. I started with a "wedding album" and it exploded from there. If anyone asks the album is not done! I just love all the products, especially stamps, paper, and of course anything sparkly! I have met many friends through this hobby of mine and I am grateful for the community and support. You can find me at my YouTube channel scrapstress or my Instagram @craftmusubi. I hope you enjoy my projects!

Hi Everyone!

Rina here as May’s Guest Designer!  How lucky am I?  I am super excited to share with you what I made for this month!  I hope you enjoy these projects and get some ideas, I sure had fun making them.

This week I am sharing a simple shaker card made from the Umbrella Pals Stamp Set.  This stamp set includes various animals as umbrellas and they are super fun to color and combine.  I always like using my favorites so I colored a ton of the pandas of course!

Panda Umbrella Shaker Card by May Guest Designer Rina Galit | Umbrella Pals Stamp Set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook #handmade

I first colored and cut the pandas and did some simple copic coloring.
Here are the colors I used:
Pinks – RV10, RV0000
Blacks – C1, C3, C6
Colorless blender

I created a shaker frame by cutting a piece of paper to 4 ½ x 5 ½. I used a rectangle die that was smaller than this and placed the die in the middle of the paper and die cut.  Once the frame is cut out, I adhered a piece of acetate behind it with glossy accents.  I used one layer of foam tape around the frame which will hold the shaker bits in.  I then filled the well with my favorite sparkly pieces.  For this shaker I used clear sequins, gold mini stars and larger clear stars.  You can use whatever mix you like, however I recommend varying the sizes and colors for more impact.  I cut out another 4 1/4x 5 ½ piece of paper and stamped the sentiment ‘You make rain days brighter’, I also stamped out the raindrops around the sentiment.  The bottom was sponged with Distress Ink in Spun Sugar.  I took this and adhered it so it faces the acetate and covers the shaker bits.

Now that the sentiment can easily be seen through the acetate, the panda umbrellas can be randomly adhered to the front of the card.  The shaker mechanism is now complete and may be adhered to a standard size top folding card base.

Thank you for stopping by!
