Rain or Shine card by Jennifer Jackson

Just another Rainy Day...

I'm so ready for summer but the past few weeks here at NND headquarters in Wisconsin have been chilly and rainy! Hopefully with June just around the corner the warmer weather will come! 

Until then, I'm sharing this fun card I created with our Newton's Rainy Day stamp set! I usually watercolor or use copic markers but I thought it would be fun to try some colored pencils on this image! I used Faber Castell Polychromos to color the image. It was a lot of fun to play with the pencils and layering of colors.  If you are new to pencils you should know that you can also achieve dark and lighter areas just by how much pressure you apply when coloring! Heavier pressure adds more pigment to the paper and lighter pressure gives a softer look. So you don't need TON of pencil colors to get some nice shading. Great if you are on a budget!

After I colored the image, I trimmed it out using the coordinating Newton's Rainy Day Die Set and then decided to make a scene for the image. I started with a kraft cardstock base and then layered a piece of bright blue cardstock over it to make the sky background. I stamped a bunch of little raindrops in the sky using the little raindrop image from the Newton's Rainy Day stamp set with blue ink. Then I trimmed out a piece of grass border for the bottom of the card using the Land Borders Die Set with green cardstock and some clouds using the Sky Borders die set using white. The cloud seemed like the perfect place to add the "I'm here for you rain or shine" sentiment from the Newton's Rainy Day stamp set!  Then I added on the image I had colored with some foam adhesive to pop it off the card!

This card was so simple to make. I love how easy you can create scenes with our border dies!

Amazing Friend Card by Jennifer Timko

Amazing watercolors!

This watercolor card today by Jennifer is so gorgeous! She used the fun floral blooms and leaves from our Lovely Blooms stamp set and embossed them in white. Then she watercolored over the images with a loose watercoloring technique! This is such an awesome idea. If you aren't sure you are good at watercoloring or your are new to it and feel intimated by being perfect you should try this! You can create beautiful cards, just by putting areas of color behind embossed images! What a great way to just play with watercolors! She also added the "Amazing Friend" sentiment using words from the Lovely Blooms stamp set. The clear droplets on the card give the perfect finishing touch!

Hello Lovely Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak

Good morning, everyone, and happy Monday! I'm back with my final guest post for Newton's Nook. I'm so bummed my guest spot is up, but I had so much fun working with them this month :) My last card is full of color and uses the stamp set Lovely Blooms in a unique way. Let's get to it!

   

I started by stamping the jar from the set on some Neenah Solar White cardstock. I wanted them to look like they had some fun, bright drinks in them, so I used my Copics to achieve this look. In the blue jar I even drew in some fruit at the bottom for a fun fresh twist. I added some bubbles to the jars as well so they looked a little more like liquid. I also stamped one of the stems from the set to be used as a straw and colored them in. I cut them all out and ran a black marker on the edges to finish them off.

 I cut down another piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock and pulled out my Distress Oxide Inks. I used Worn Lipstick and Broken China to make a bright, bold background. To make some of the background purple I mixed the pink and blue together--which is is so easy with Distress Oxides! I sprayed water droplets over the ink and dabbed it with a paper towel to get the textured splatter look.

I added the jars with foam tape to the Distress Oxide piece of paper once it was dry. I die cut the word 'hello from some white cardstock and added it over the right and middle jar. I also stamped 'lovely' from the same set on black cardstock with VersaMark ink and heat embossed white embossing powder over it. I cut it down and added it under the 'hello' die. To finish off the card I added Nuvo Crystal drops in white and clear all over the card and Glossy Accents to the straws. And that's it for my last card for Newton's Nook! Father's Day Card by Amanda Bodine

Fishing card for Father's Day!

Happy Friday! Father's Day is just around the corner and we're sharing some adorable inspiration today by Amanda! She created this adorable scene using our Campfire Tails stamp set! She used the images of Winston in his adorable fishing vest along with the cute raccoon, lantern and flashlight to create and adorable fishing scene! The way she colored them is so awesome and I love the little details filled in with the white gel pen. To set the scene she used the curvy hill from our Land Borders Die Set and the underside of the scalloped border from the Sky Borders Die Set to create layers of water! Then she finished off the card with the custom "World's Best father" sentiment using words from our Simply Relative stamp set! So fun!

Scootin' By Interactive Card by Tatiana Trafimovich

Scoot by with a slider card!

Do you love cards that move? Interactive cards are SO fun to make and to receive! Today we are sharing this amazing slider card by Tatiana! She created a scene using the kitty on a scooter from our NEW Newton Scoots By stamp set. She colored the kitty so on the scooter and cut him out using the coordinating Newton Scoots By Die Set. The fun grass edges were created using the grass edge from our Land Borders Die Set. It's so cute how she layered the kitty between the two layers of grass!

Then she attached a little pull-able tab to the card that attaches the message to the image of the kitty on the scooter. When you pull the tab the kitty "scoots" across the card and the message is revealed:

Our Design team is getting in the mood for summer this week! Today we have this gorgeous Aloha card by Naki! She created that beautiful hisbicus using our  Hibiscus Die Set and inked over the die cut paper with some beautiful distress ink techniques! Then she added it to her card with an awesome water background created with layers of ink and water and some texture too! There are so many fun details on this card! Check out the bits of paper and washi tape too! All those little pieces create a gorgeous combination of color and texture!

You're Tiki-rific Card and Video by Holly Endress

Tropical Tiki!

Are you ready for summer? This cheerful Tiki card by Holly will put you in the mood for some tropical sun and tiki drinks! She used the two adorable tiki mug faces from our Tiki Time stamp set to create the fun duo of tropical drinks! She also added in straws and an umbrella, trimming it out with the coordinating Tiki Time Die Set. Then she added them onto that fun card base with some bright tropical patterned paper and the "You're Tiki-riffic" sentiment! So fun!

You're Lovely Card by May Guest a designer Cassie Tezak

Good morning, everyone! Happy Monday! Er, well...I hope you're having the happiest Monday you can anyways :) I'm back with another Newton's Nook card to share with you. Today I'm using the beautiful flowers from the Lovely Blooms set.
 

I started by stamping a bunch of the flowers and leaves on some Neenah Solar White card stock with some Momento Tuxedo Black ink, because I wanted to color these in with my Copics. I cut all of the pieces out and set them aside while I worked on the other parts of my card. For one of the flowers I decided to make it a piece of wood instead of a flower. It is the one of the lower left side. I love that it gives a little versatility.



I die cut a couple pieces to really highlight my flower arrangement and glued them all together. I added all of the flowers with foam tape and stamped my sentiment from the Lovely Blooms set with some VersaMark ink on a banner cut from vellum. I love that the transparency of the vellum allows you to see the flowers beneath and doesn't take away from them. To finish the card I added a couple Nuvo clear drops and some white gel pen accents. That's my card for today. I hope you enjoyed it! I just love the flowers in the Lovely Blooms set. The fun thing about them is all the different ways you can color and arrange them. Mother's Day Gift Box by Ellen Haxelmans

A Sweet Gift for Mom!

Today we have a super cute way to package a little gift from Ellen! She created this adorable little gift box for her mom for Mother's Day but you could easily make use this idea for a birthday or other occasion just by changing the sentiments! She started out with an beautiful hydrangea and leaves, stamped from our Lovely Blooms stamp set. She colored the bloom gorgeous shades of yellow then cut out the flower and leaves using the coordinating Lovely Blooms Die Set. She added this to a top of a little carton along with a banner that uses the "for my mother" using words from both the Lovely Blooms stamp set and the Simply Relative stamp set.

Inside the container lid she added a pretty wreath using the Happy Little Thoughts stamp set and coordinating Happy Little Thoughts Die Set.

What a fun way to give a little gift set to someone special!

Spaghetti Love Page Layout by Samantha Mann

Spaghetti Time!

Today we have another fun scrapbook page layout by Samantha! When she saw the image of Newton eating spaghetti in our new Newton Dreams of Italy stamp set it reminded her of the time her son enjoyed some homemade spaghetti! She got dug the photo and made this adorable layout!

Isn't it cute how she colored the kitty with the spaghetti? I love the stripes she gave him and the pink cheeks! she used the coordinating Newton Dreams of Italy die set to cut out the kitty to add it to her page. She also used the "amore" from the Newton Dreams of Italy stamp set, stamped around the kitty image on the background! I love all the subtle touches she adds into her pages!

Dad, You're Tee-rific Card by Juliana Michaels

Tee-riffic card for DAD! 

Today we are back celebrating Dad with this adorable golf themed card by Juliana! She used that cute image our our bear, Winston, in his adorable golf clothes from the Winston's Tee Time stamp set. I love bright blue pants and hat she gave him! So cute! She cut out the bear and his little golf ball using the coordinating Winston's Tee Time Die Set! Then she created a super fun background for Winston using our Land Borders die set for the grass and our Sky Borders Die Set for the clouds. She has some more fun ideas on how to use our border dies on her blog today with two more fun cards, so pop over to Juliana's blog to see those!

Newton Scoots By 3D Card by Maria Russell

Beautiful Ride 3D card!

WOW! This 3D card by Maria is so fun! She started out with Newton on the scooter from the NEW Newton Scoots By stamp set and trimmed him out with the coordinating Newton Scoots By die set! Then she made an awesome pop up scene using the grass edge from our Land Borders Die Set. How cute is that kitty scooting across this little road!? To make it even more fun, she added on in those cute butterflies and bird from the Newton's Birdbath stamp set on cute little pieces of clear so they they look like they're flying alongside the kitty! To finish off the card, she added the "Life is a beautiful ride" sentiment from Newton Scoots By  stamp set and the sides have two sweet little bows from our Pines & Holly Die Set! Doesn't Maria have the greatest ideas on combining all those little die shapes? Such an adorable card!

Hello Honey Card by May Guest Designer Cassie Tezak

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I'm back with another card using some adorable Newton's Nook products. I wanted to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, so that's where my card for today started!

 

I started by cutting down some Bristol Smooth card stock to 4 1/4 by 4 1/4. I stamped the sweet little bee hive and heart stamp from the Winston's Honeybees set all over the piece of paper. I used my Zigs to color them in.



I used a light gray color to fill in the background. I completely fell in love with this color combo. It is so soft and pretty. For my sentiment I wasn't sure how I wanted to add it without letting it get lost in the background. I die cut two hearts, one from vellum and one from Neenah Solar White card stock. I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark and heat embossed white embossing power on the vellum heart. Then I used my Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink to ink blend on the back of the vellum.

 

I glued the vellum to the white heart and added some Spectrum Noir shimmer over the top of the vellum. I attached the heart with foam tape to the center of the handmade background.

 

To finish off the card I added some black dots in the background just to fill in the empty spaces. And that's it for my card today! I hope you liked it. Thank you so much for stopping by. I'll have another card for you soon!
