Hello hello!!
I am so sad that today is my last post as guest designer for Newton's Nook. This month has been so fun! I have loved working with their wonderful products and showcasing some awesome designs! I want to sincerely thank Jennifer for the invitation! And a huge thank you to Samantha and the wonderful Newton's Nook design team for their warm welcome this month! Their comments, along with all of the readers comments have been so inspiring and uplifting! This is a wonderful community, and I'm so thankful to be a part of it!!
So for my final card, I created something that I think everyone enjoys...a Shaker Card!
This super cute Newton's Birthday Flutter set is just so fun to use! I love these little birdies and that sassy kitty is just a hoot! Since I've featured my two oldest kitties on my previous cards, I decided to color this sweet one up like my youngest, Ezio. He is probably the one that would most likely catch a bird, so it felt fitting. I mean, he hunts down flies and moths...and LOVES to watch the birds from the window. But on a card is about the only chance he'll ever get to actually catch one :)
I really wanted it to look like those birdies were flying around in that shaker window, so I strung them up on some sparkly string. I left the string a little loose when I adhered my frame. They don't move quite as much as I wanted, but they're still cute!
The background of the shaker window was blended into a pretty, soft pink/yellow sunset to go along with the color challenge here at Newton's Nook this month. I also die cut and inked up some grass in a soft mint color.
Then I filled that shaker window! I mixed all kinds of fun little sequin type elements in there! Maybe over stuffed it a bit...I always seem to do that. It never looks like enough when I'm pulling everything together but as soon as it goes into the shaker, it's bursting the seams...oh well! Move fun bits to shake!
To kick this card up just a tiny notch, I decided to add a slider in there. Now I wanted my little Ezio kitty to slid as well...but that was going to be a bit too difficult to incorporate. So I just settled for a little slide out sentiment along the bottom of the shaker panel. It's nice and hidden, but gives that perfect finish to the whole fun scene!
Everything was layered up very simply with just some white and black cardstock and mounted onto a card base!
Thank again for your wonderful comments this month! I have enjoyed every second of being guest designer! Until next time!
